Anthony Burge - Stuck In The Mud

I’m stuck in the mud and it’s holding me down
Can’t see through the mire and I can’t hear a sound
Can’t breath in the sludge and I’m sinking real fast
Try as I might don’t know how long I’ll last
Reach for the sky and clutch at the clouds
Scream out for help but my words not aloud
Look towards the sun as it fades with the light
As I sink in thick bog as dark as the night
I breathe the morass and it soon fills my lungs
I reach for a ladder I claw at the rungs
But no ladder comes to aid my ascent
At the black ceiling with fingers I rent
Too soon the urgency fades to a calm
The inky black mud holds like honey sweet balm
No longer I seek to climb to the surface
I sink and I ponder just what was my purpose
Deep sleep reaping my thoughts
