I try hard in school
“You gotta try harder.”
I try hard at work
“You need to work on this, this, and this to be better.”
I try hard at home
“You need to think of someone else besides yourself.”
I’m sorry, I’m not perfect
Why can’t you just be happy that I’m here, alive?
I’m not
It’s depressing really
The sad sob story of an unhappy teenager
But all stories have a different twist
Nothing I do is good enough for them
I have tons of potential
But it’s buried in the back yard
Alongside my heart
Where I should belong
