Ann Thrope - Texas Storms

As lightening streaks across a black sky, I pause, half in my car, half out in the torrent of rain. The storm is just beginning and I couldn't feel more safe, more at home. Thunder rolls in the distance, assuring more time for natural destruction, and my fear shows for a fleeting second before it's pitch black outside again. If this was to last only for another moment, i hope to be in the midst of it all. The storm, the destruction, the beauty of Mother Nature enraptures me. This one moment of beauty is all I need to assure myself that the earth will be okay, the world will be okay, and maybe, just maybe, I will, too.
