Description
Two brothers from Louisiana filleted and ate a fish that they later realized was close to a world record.
Gary Birdsall, his brother Andre, and others were aboard Gary’s 31-foot Contender one night, jigging for tuna alongside a floating oil rig 120 miles off the coast of Louisiana. Andre connected with the grouper on a glow-in-the-dark diamond jig. What they thought was a scamp grouper was actually a 19-pound yellowmouth grouper, uncommon for Gulf waters.
