How can I trust you
when you say you'll provide
and I'm facing starvation
right in the face

why do I place hope in you
when I can't find work
for all these supposed gifts
which you supposedly have given

you ask me to use my gifts
then don't provide opportunity
you ask me to follow you
but you lead me nowhere

so why do I follow you
because I'm still here
because I need to
or I'll be overtaken by fear

without you, I'd be dead already
without you, I'd look to my own ability
without you they're would be no steady
without you there is no stability

you made this earth out of chaos
you made all people from dust
you gave your Son the biggest loss
to save your creation from its sinful lust

you provide me with forgiveness everyday
and I forget you, hate you, leave you again
please God be my life, my truth, my way
lead me to through the gate to the pen

you are my shepherd, I am your sheep
you know me and I know you
I follow your voice, your promises you keep
please Lord, once more forgive and renew
