Andrew Daglish - Change The Record

Every poem I seem to read these days
Is of love or of a love that's lost,
Whether it's cheating hearts of partners,
Or far worse, a love that's crossed.
These words it's true strike deeper
Than any stake you can impale,
But it's just to down in mouth for me,
I’ve got up-beat thoughts for sale.
Yet still your prose, it drags me down,
Your total desperation I inhale.
You've covered every base emotion
In such calculating detail.
Perhaps someday I’ll know your words
And comprehend just what you've lost,
But for now I’m in a happy place,
And plan to stay, fingers crossed.
