ANDREW BLAKEMORE - Within This Old Park
0 Views • Nov 08, 2014
Description
On the housing estate
The fun as a child that I had,
Waking the memories
Of times I'd forgotten
The times I was happy and glad.
It all looks familiar
Although things have changed
The picture is almost the same,
The trees have all grown
And the flats have all gone
Yet this is the place where I came.
As sunlight does shine
Over dark terraced rooftops
The silhouette shapes that I see,
The slide and the swings
And the see-saw beyond
That now is as still as can be.
Once there was laughter
And smiles in the sunshine
Here in the days long before,
Now hushed are the voices
The park so deserted
Where children don't play anymore.
