ANDREW BLAKEMORE - Missed Opportunities

I was told that
That there was a beautiful sunset
Last evening,
That lit the sky
Like a burning fire,
And yet
I wasn't there to see it.

I was told that
The stars shone so brightly
That night,
Much brighter than
They'd ever shone before,
And yet
My eyes were closed.

I was told that
The chorus of the dawn
Was sung more sweetly
Than it ever
Had been sung before,
And yet
I did not wake to hear it.
