Approximately 1,100 carbonized scrolls were recovered from the ancient Roman city of Herculaneum.
The grand prize of the Vesuvius Challenge is still up for grabs.
"These manuscripts are dialogues that they're having about philosophical views of the world," says Professor Brent Seales.
Decoding the scrolls provides a deep connection to the ancients and their thoughts.
