Anand Shankar - My Portrait

I have painted many faces
Great men and celebrities
All lie in my painting cases
But when I paint my picture
My hands tremble
Fingers lose control of the brush
And the paint-tubes fumble
As I paint my eyes, they start gleaming
And the lips, they start screaming
As if trying to speak something out
I left to ponder, What is it all about!
When I paint my hands
They seem to come forrard
Advancing to embrace me
Or contriving to slap me hard!
And my legs too and fro
Dancing in air in an imperceptible flow
I try to paint them stable
And they seem to kick me low
Yes, I have painted many faces
And had people bestowing all sorts of praises
But when I paint my own picture
My hands tremble
Paint-tubes, they fumble!
