An STI Called MGen May Become A Superbug

The British Association of Sexual Health and HIV is attempting to prevent the sexually transmitted infection mycoplasma genitalium, also known as MGen or MG, from developing into a superbug. CNN reports the association has published guidelines for sexually active people. MGen is quickly becoming treatment-resistant and could become a superbug in five years. Giving antibiotics for chlamydia to patients with MGen builds the strength of MGen, making it more resistant to antibiotics.
