amrita rao was born on 17 june 1981 to a mangalorean Brahmin family in Mumbai .her father owns an advertising company in Mumbai she did her schooling from Sophia college to persue degree in psychology .while studying in college she filmed many commercials and did numerous photo shoots .her appearance in Cadbury perk karwa chauth ad and bru coffee ads helped her receive offers from film directors .she also appeared in numerous music video by artist such as Alisha chinoy .amrita then made her acting debut in film ab ke baras in 2002 alongwith arya babbar .then she appear in film ishq vishq alongwith shahid kapoor the film got a huge success at box office and even her performance was appreciated .also she won filmfare best debutant award .
