Gold Eagles are twenty two karat coins, comprised of 91.67% pure gold. The US Mint also produces a proof version of the Gold Eagle, which is a limited edition collector's strike with a mirror like finish and accompanying box and certificate of authenticity. Both versions of the coin are approved for IRA transactions and direct delivery.
