<b> by Andrew Caringi</b>America’s status as a “full democracy” has been revoked.</a> The Economist Intelligence Unit’s annual report officially downgraded the U.S. to a “flawed democracy.” There are currently 19 full democracies worldwide, America is now #21 in the world, right behind Japan. And before you blame Donald Trump, the election had nothing to do with the downgrade, according to the report. America’s downgrade highlights an ongoing erosion of public trust in political institutions.
