Amberlee Carter - what cannot be forgotten
0 Views • Nov 07, 2014
Description
Today in 1997
I had been at the hospital for 4 days, without sleep-
gambling with nurses and doctors, betting against God.
we had knelt in the waiting room, my sisters and I,
along with one of our aunts who had been taught the art
of praying- so profusely
the stigmata flashed before my eyes
it wasn't enough, love rarely is-
it does not grant miracles
or give one wings to go above grief
ask any child who's ever experienced
the breath of life
sucked from a mother's breast-
they'll tell you:
love is a sadist beast
