Description

The whiskey was warm
-
and the hatred
hotter than
the liquor's sting-

I threw back 4 shots,
fast,
not giving myself time to breathe-

No sense in breathing
when you're just existing-

The clock that had been coutning down
only ever added up-
to this moment
where I would erupt-

Dive from the jagged edge,
plunge into a million stars
who would ordain
a universe
where I would be god

The whiskey was warm
-
I drank it slow
so I could feel the burn-
It would cremate
every word that seemed wedged
between the heart and thought:

' I was going to murder you '
I said to the reflection
at the bottom of the shot glass

' I was going to murder you, twice.
once when you woke up this morning
and then 30 seconds ago..

I was going to do it
with the blunt edge of your fountain pen-
the one you create with '
