The winter will be a sore one,
if
the cardboard over the windows
cannot hold back the winds and snow,
that keep on driving hard-
We're sure to know the depths of cold,
as it drifts in and out of our lives
tonight.


The winter will be a sore one,
if
the cardboard over your soul
cannot hold-
If it cannot keep in the warmth
I have spent all summer sewing-

There is nothing I can do now,
the cock crows thrice,
winter's eye is upon our lives,
watching every movement of our timed limbs
counting every doubt in our minds-

You've begun to wither,
your vines show signs of freezing
and now, my duty is beyond cause,
I fear I cannot stop the winters.
