Amberlee Carter - nostalgia
2 Views • Nov 07, 2014
Description
don't actually fall between
the pregnant pause, that
rushes the silence in
I'm too grown - to be so,
unbearably comfortable with
the weight of the world
Outside Spring arrives,
life takes flight as
butterflies haul the sun in
on their backs
The pavement arches slightly at the neck,
tilt of the world off center-
this moment is what I’ll remember,
when I wake 10 years from now, haunting
the ruins of another city
I’ll take what rest I can get
when it comes to carrying this cross,
the memento of who I was, before
the valiant fall-
Memories of home, we
take them with us when we go- and
you’re dying to know, what it is
I’ll miss the most.
