Amber Goldfields - The Final Race

Tiny footsteps heard down the hall
A mature female voice echoes along the wall
“Come on! It is time for a bath! ”
But you kept on running until you stumbled as an aftermath
Icy droplets of snuffle landed on her arm
As she clasped and let you feel warm
A faint smile on your innocent lips
As she laid you down into the balmy dips

You lost your appetite and did not want to eat
But still she uncomplainingly convinced to take it
Tantrums visited the child
As he stomped his feet, immature and wild

A thousand tomorrows after
These shall for eternity matter
Memoirs were long ago
But should not forego

Years of studying gone by
Precious time you can never buy
Distinct lines on her face are completely visible
It was so astounding how changes are so discernible

After he was taken care of with her utmost ability
It is now his turn to keep his responsibility
Of not forgetting to respect and love her
To chase her patiently for a bath moreover,
To unwearyingly feed her without raising a pitch
And to give her medicines, and that in her life his niche

You were so busy growing up and moving with the hasty pace
You forgot who was finishing the race
In her old age, drifting slowly from day to day
Longing for the sweet words you would say
She is not asking you to pay
A simple gesture of love is okay
