Amazon Laying Off 18K Employees
Description
Amazon ($AMZN@US) announced on Wednesday that it’s laying off more than 18,000, about 1 percent of its workforce. The cuts primarily affect people in corporate roles in fields such as retail and human resources. The reductions began last year and were initially expected to affect about 10,000 people. The company said it hired too many people during the pandemic, and the prospect of layoffs has been looming for months.
