Amazon invests in biofuel production
One of the main purposes of the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 30), to be held in November in Belém, is to discuss the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and thus curb global warming. More than 80% of these emissions come from the burning of fossil fuels, especially oil. This is why, the entire world is investing in energy transition initiatives, replacing fossil sources with renewable and clean ones. In the Amazon, such an important region for combating climate change, researchers are dedicated to studying the production of biofuels, one type of clean energy source, by experimenting with various regional raw materials, such as açaí.

Um dos principais objetivos da 30ª Conferência das Nações Unidas sobre Mudanças Climáticas (COP 30), que acontecerá em novembro, em Belém, é discutir a redução das emissões dos gases do efeito estufa e, assim, conter o aquecimento global. Mais de 80% dessas emissões provêm da queima de combustíveis fósseis, sobretudo o petróleo. Por isso, o mundo inteiro investe em iniciativas de transição energética, substituindo as fontes fósseis por aquelas renováveis e limpas. Na Amazônia, região tão importante para o combate às mudanças climáticas, pesquisadores se dedicam a estudar a produção de biocombustíveis, um dos tipos de fonte de energia limpa, a partir de experimentos com várias matérias-primas regionais, como o açaí.
