Amazon Boosts Driver Pay to $22 Amid Increasing Pressure from Unionization Efforts
Description
Amazon announced a wage increase for contracted delivery drivers to an average of $22 per hour, up from nearly $20. The move is part of a nearly $2.1 billion investment in its delivery service partner program and aims to support DSPs in attracting and retaining employees. The pay raise comes amid growing pressure from unionization efforts, including strikes led by the Teamsters Union. The National Labor Relations Board has recently ruled Amazon a "joint employer" in some cases, a decision Amazon disputes.
