Amatulla Mohammadi - Beyond Myself

Time hasn't changed at all;
it's the same old clock
ticking on the old white wall,
it's the same window
with a broken mesh
and a fading metal shine;

But the trees have grown up -
slowly and unpercieved,
crept up to the blue sky
and I'd never seen them
so youthful as today,
since when?

Looking at them - with their
branches drooping with fruits
and lovely bright leaves,
I think if I too am them -
grown up and beyond myself,
I didn't even realize when....
