Dear Daddy,
Or should I call you Father?
Or Dad?
I think I'll stick to the point
The way you stuck it to my mother,
You self-serving, self-righteous bastard
You killed my faith
Before it was even born
I am the cynic of all cynics,
The only one who knows and sees what anger can do
When placed in the right black hole
The place where my heart should be

Thanks for everything
Without your selfishness,
Dozens of therapists
Would have had to look elsewhere
For their big payoff,
Their solid income,
You're feeding the wealthy, Father!
You're everything I fight
Everyday,
While I sit here, hammer in hand,
Ready to build a house for a woman
With three kids,
Two jobs,
And no future
She believed in a man once too,
And as I look at that woman,
With the three kids and two jobs and wasted life,
All I can see is my mother,
With her three kids, two jobs and wasted life
And it really hits home, you know?
No, you wouldn't
You weren't home to witness my downfalls
And my tears,
And my lessons
Would you be proud of me?
Would you be glad that you fathered a girl
Who would become the hope of dozens of women
Just like the one you abandoned?
How should I know?
I was the one left behind, remember?
