Amanda R. McKinnon - A Parent's Prayer

As the days pass by we often think of you, and hope the smile on your face will always be true.
We hope you know that you're always in our hearts, and maybe one day we won't have to be apart.
Maybe one day we can make new memories, and maybe one day you will be able to see...
We always wanted you to be in our life, no more tears or fear and strife.
You are a blessing, everything we've always dreamed about. You are smart and beautiful without a doubt.
We've watched you learn and grow through out the years, I only wish we could've protected you from all of your fears.
It hurts to not wake up to your smiling face, or keep you safe in our warm embrace.
Life isn't fair and sometimes people stand in our way, But I know we will be together again one day.
You are our world and we wish you knew, that the things you're told are not always true.
One day you'll be grown and can make your own choice, and when the time comes I hope you'll hear that voice.
The voice that tells you that we never abandoned you, the one that tells you that our love was always true.
Just remember when you doubt yourself that you were never to blame, and I'm sorry you were caught in the middle of this vicious game.
We did not set the rules and never wanted to play, we only wanted to be in your life each and every day.
So I pray that one day you will figure out what's true, until then just know we will always love you.
