Alternative Fuels- Variations and Major Uses

Some variations of alternative fuels would power the automobile by substituting the need for the internal combustion engine thoroughly. Solar or electric powered automobile is a good example of this. Solar power or electricity would then be considered as the "fuel" that is powering the vehicle. The other major uses of fuel are to give heat or to generate electricity. Once again, fossil fuels like oil or coal are burned to directly give heat or heat water indirectly into steam to power electrical generators. The fossil fuels would be called conventional and those that are not are called alternative.
