You taught me never to cause a scene
to just go forward and let things be
I told you what he did to me
and the pain he caused my family
I thought you finally understood
until that night I came to you
And as I stood there with unbelief
you said to me 'Just let things be'
so i did what you taught me
and didn't cause a scene
until that night once again
he had beaten me
I laid there lying on the floor
hearing my kids crying at the door
and as I closed my eyes
I knew it for the last time
I thought to myself
I wish I had caused a scene
I wish I hadn't let things be.
