Watching the children
Through a gauze curtain
Damp eyes shining
Cold breath steaming

Mud-speckled trousers
Feet red with chilblains
Noses red with wiping
Dog damp and smelly

Bright woolen colors
Growing on needles
Hot soup bubbling
Sprinkled with parsley

Cockatoos screeching
Sulphur crests reaching
Perching clown-like
On bare branches

Opening the curtains
On a white blanket
Snow-flakes are falling
Winter is with us
