Alfredo Jacques - Hope light

I wrote this poem for some close to me

Awaken by the breathing,
of the ghetto.
Darkness, shrouded
in loneliness and lost love,
Consuming all.
I see a glimmer in the distance
I can feel it
from thousands of miles away
like an arrow penetrating
past my heart, straight to my soul, releasing
Happiness?
I wonder, can it be?
A feeling unknown
But the same as,
reading a great poem.
The darkness blinds
The feeling fades
taking my light.
This glimmer, that is my only
Hope. This light of Hope
That brightens my path
And keeps me strong.
I need it, everyone needs it, a
Hope light.
