Just one drink and I won't be sober
Clip my wings, pack my things and the flight is over
One step down and you won't be around
To help me get off the ground
I'm reaching high, reaching for that angel in the sky
The one who will wipe my tears when I cry
The one who will help me through another day
Who will teach me how and when to pray
Just one pill and I'm addicted
Anyone could have predicted
One fall to the ground and you won't be around
I keep reaching for that angel in the sky
The one to ground me when I fly
The one who will be there when I fall
So when I need direction I know who to call
Just one sniff of angel dust and the lust for life is gone
Take my eyes cause I probably won't see the dawn
Blowing away the afternoon, didn't need no silver spoon
The rush came and left too soon
I keep reaching high, not wanting to have to say goodbye
There's got to be an angel with whom I can rely
Even with all the laws of nature I defy
It's that one temptation I never seem to deny
One misstep is all it will take
And like Humpty Dumpty I will break
I've doled out my share of heartache
Not really caring what was at stake
I keep reaching high
Hanging by a thread in a needle with no eye
And all I see is death
Will I be anointed with one last breath
So for me there is no last chance
No last dance
A dark angel waits in the wings
Pack my things
Dress rehearsal is over
Next life I'll be pushing clover
Because I'm addicted
