I already know
how it feels
to love with a poet's passion
Yet I've never been the object
of that much affection
I wonder if one day I'll be loved
with that intensity
If anyone will write lines
that talk lovingly
of my eyelashes or presence
If they will cry
after too many martinis
or listen to a song
and burst into tears
Think about me all night
with way too much wine
then go to work with a hangover
that would do Dionysus proud
I wonder if anyone has
and left me ignorant
How sad would that be?
I want to be loved
intensely
