She Waits

No one knows how,
how she coils herself in bed
and holding her breath,
she waits for darkness.

No one seems to care,
so she hides her sorrow
by dimming the light in her eyes
and replaces it with pain.

No one's around
when she screams for help;
she waits to be saved,
to be heard.

She waits to live.
