Islam is a monotheistic Abrahamic religion founded on the belief in one God (Allah) and the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, who is considered the final prophet in a line that includes figures such as Abraham, Moses, and Jesus. Its central religious text is the Quran, which Muslims believe to be the literal word of God as revealed to Muhammad. The religion encompasses a broad range of beliefs and practices, including the Five Pillars of Islam, which are:

1. **Shahada (Faith):** The declaration of faith that there is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is his prophet.

3. **Zakat (Charity):** Giving a portion of one's wealth to those in need.
4. **Sawm (Fasting):** Observing fasts during the month of Ramadan from dawn to sunset.
5. **Hajj (Pilgrimage):** Undertaking a pilgrimage to Mecca, which is obligatory for those who are physically and financially able.

Islam also emphasizes moral conduct, community service, and justice. It has a rich tradition of scholarship, law, and spirituality, and it has diverse cultural and sectarian expressions around the world.
