Airbus Refuses To Reduce Production
Description
Airbus ($EADSY@Netherlands) is pushing back on calls to reduce production of the A320 jet family—one of the most popular airframes in the world. The firm believes that post-pandemic travel demand will increase, meaning its jets will remain a hot commodity. Leasing firms, however, are joining engine builders to warn Airbus that increased production could impact prices. Currently, the firm wants to complete 64 A320s a month by the 2nd quarter of 2023, increasing its output to 70 by early 2024 and 75 per month in 2025–where it only produces 40 jets a month currently. Airbus stock fell over 1 and a half percent as the news broke.
