...le vent du sud est doux mais
souffle fort sur la paroi argentée,
mon pin de l'affût tremble et grince.
L'aiglon est agité et bruyant,
il pique sur le chamois en criant,
la laie et ses marcassins restent prudents,
l'aigle longe la paroi dorée longtemps
avant de glisser vers le couchant.
Entre ciel orange pur et lune pâle, je redescends,
le merle sonne l'alarme...

...the south wind is sweet but
blow hard on the silvery cliff,
my lookout pine tree is shaking and squeaking.
The young eagle is restless and noisy,
he swoops down on the chamois shouting,
the wild sow and her piglets remain careful,
the eagle flies a longtime along the golden cliff
before sliding towards the sunset.
Between pure orange sky and pale moon, I'm going back down,
the blackbird raises the alarm...
