Aircraft Stress - loads per unit area imposed on aircraft surfaces.

Types of Aircraft Stresses:

#1. Tension - the stress that tends to pull apart the aircraft.

#2. Compression - the stress that applies crushing force on the aircraft.

#3. Torsion - the stress that produces twisting on the aircraft.

#4. Shear - the stress that causes one layer of material to slide over an adjacent layer.

#5. Bending - it is a combination of tension (on the outside of bend) and compression (on the inside of bend)
