AI comforts Chinese mourners

In an eastern Chinese cemetery, a grieving father, Seakoo Wu, uses his phone to play a recording of his deceased son, created by Chinese companies from short audiovisual clips. While these ‘digital people’ bring comfort to those mourning, they also echo a disconcerting theme from the TV series ‘Black Mirror,’ where advanced AI is relied upon for grieving support.
