Must our tottering heels stamp
On clumps of naked thorns
And our tummies
Spiked to souless sacks

I fear this armpit of life
Death!

Must our scaint cultured skin
Be fed to safari of wild ants
When we lay dud blabing
Threnody sensed alone by coated ears

I fear...
My ageless life had seen
Many peers gone alein home
They crafted unaware

I fear the day
When my street would limp in padlock
For my lost-to-dust sake
And my agbada would lay ironed
Forever
Without my touch

I fear...
