a light in the dark - Gone

Pain thunders through my body
Once again I have landed face first into the ground

Once again I have been ridiculed
By those I call friends

Again I find my self shivering on the cold ground

I have always caught them when they fell
I have always listened to them when they cry for help

But what hurts me is when someone knocks me down
No one is there to catch me

Where were you when I fell?

I'll tell you

They’re gone backs turned, tone deaf, and eyes blind

Many times I have defended you
I have fought for you

But when it’s your turn to fight for me or even with me
What do you do?

You disappear
Just once I wish someone would defend me besides myself

Is there anyone out there I can call my friend
