A Dreadful Night 1905 Segundo de Chomón

"Una noche terrible" es una de las muchas películas dirigidas por Segundo de Chomón donde esencialmente roba las ideas del director francés Georges Méliès. Hackear en el día, robar el trabajo de otro cineasta era común ... tanto que en raras ocasiones, ¡el propio Méliès incluso incursionó en un poco de robo!

Cuando veas esta película, jurarías que es una de Méliès, ya que hizo varias películas casi idénticas en las que alguien intenta, en vano, dormir un poco. En este caso, un hombre con atuendo del siglo XVII se detiene en una posada y consigue una habitación. Sin embargo, una vez que está en la cama, la cama comienza a moverse por toda la habitación... dejándolo incapaz de dormir.

Al igual que las películas de Georges Méliès, esta película requería que el camarógrafo detuviera la película, hicieron ajustes (como volcar la cama de lado) y luego reiniciaron la cámara para que pareciera que las cosas habían cambiado. Es un truco simple para los estándares de hoy, pero a la gente le encantaba... y es por eso que se copió. No es una visita obligada de ninguna manera... pero medianamente interesante.

"A Dreadful Night" is one of many films directed by Segundo de Chomón where he essentially steals the ideas of French director Georges Méliès. Hack in the day, stealing another filmmaker's work was common...so much so that on rare occasions, Méliès himself even dabbled in a bit of thievery!

When you watch this movie, you'd swear it was one of Méliès, as he made several nearly identical films involving someone trying, in vain, to get some sleep. In this case, a man in 17th century attire stops at an inn and gets a room. However, once he is in bed, the bed starts moving all over the room...leaving him unable to sleep.

Like the Georges Méliès films, this film required the cameraman to stop the film, they made adjustments (such as flipping the bed on its side) and then restarting the camera to make it appear as if things have changed. It's a simple trick by today's standards but folks back in the day loved it...and this is why it was copied. Not a must-see in any way...but mildly interesting.
