A dangerous walk to school

For some in Indonesia it can be a perilous journey to school.
Rather than take a long detour, these children risk their lives crossing a bridge to get to the classroom on time.
Three suspension bridges in the Lebak district have collapsed due to flooding.
And for these children they were left with few options, this crossing or a five kilometer walk.
One nine year old student said he was scared but didn't want to miss out on his lessons.
(SOUNDBITE) MUHAMMAD, AN ELEMENTARY STUDENT SAYING(Bahasa Indonesia):
"Yes, I am afraid"
The residents have called on the government to repair it.
(SOUNDBITE) EPI SUHAEPI, HEAD OF PASIRTANJUNG VILLAGE, SAYING(Bahasa Indonesia):
"We hope the government will take immediate action on this matter as this bridge is used for daily activities, especially by school children, as Ciwaru villages is far and this bridge is closest connection."
The bridge, built in 2004 is the only access that connects the two villages over the Ciberang river.
