A captured pilot in Syria

Amateur video out of Syria appears to show four armed rebels and a man described in the video as a captured pilot.

The video could not be independently verified by Reuters.

The man in the video renounces the Syrian army. He says he has been treated well by rebels.

A Syrian warplane crashed in flames Monday in disputed circumstances.

Rebels say they shot it down.

The government says it crashed because of technical problems.

The downing of a warplane would be a rare coup for lightly armed rebels up against the superior weaponry of President bashar-al Assad's forces.
