5/8ERL IN EHR´N
is a band consisting of acoustic-guitar, accordion, double-bass and two vocalists, who tune with each other in a bewildering and outstanding performance since 2006. Lyrics are written and performed in the local Viennese dialect. Due to this and because the instruments' acoustic is reminiscent of old-fashioned chansons, the genre „Wienerlied" (Viennese Songs) is a prevalent association. Not only aware of this but also boldly using it as a tool, the quintet creates a unique style with mind and ear-boggling lightness and fetching wit. Listeners lately call it „Wiener Soul" (Viennese Soul). The third full length album "Gut genug für die City" (i.e. Good enough for the city) is a further step towards a larger audience that listens to jazz, indie and pop and has again been released on their own Indie Label Viennese Soulfood Records. Thus, „5/8erl in Ehr'n" engross a comprehensive audience and a multifaceted field of listening. It grooves and hurts; it's critical and it's soulful: Watch out for this unforgetable ensemble and enjoy a performance that can't be compared to anything else!
