2018 AUDI Q5 VS 2018 BMW X3
2018 AUDI Q5:
The 2018 Audi Q5 is a five-seater compact crossover SUV that's all-new for 2018 and squares off against competitors like the BMW X3, Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, and the Jaguar F-Pace.Initially, the Q5 is available with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 that sends power to all four wheels, but a more performance-oriented SQ5 will follow with 354 hp from a turbo V-6. The Q5 remains available in Premium, Premium Plus, and Platinum trim levels, with a fairly high degree of customizability within those three variations. The Q5 manages a 7.8 ranking on our scale, but that number will change once it is crash-tested and EPA fuel economy figures are released. Audi Q5 styling and performance: It may not look all that different for 2018, but the Q5 is all-new underneath. Its exterior follows Audi's more sinewy design language that emphasizes a shapely belt-line and a nose that appears longer than before. The difference is mostly in the detailing, with standard HID and optional LED headlamps projecting the way forward and flanking the latest version of Audi's shield grille. At the rear, the Q5 sports a tailgate that could have been carried over from last year, but new LED lighting cleans up its rear lights. SQ5s, meanwhile, have a slightly revised look outside with their own alloy wheel designs...

2018 BMW X3:
BMW had previously teased the new model in a series of official spy shots, but these fresh pictures show us almost every detail and were published alongside a promotional video and specs on the official BMW Hong Kong site. Overall, the profile of the premium mid-size SUV remains much the same, and we don’t expect the new X3 to swell in size over the current model. The styling is clearly evolutionary too: there's a more rounded-off look but it appears BMW's designers haven't strayed too far from what came before. New lights and a bigger grille are the main changes here. However, the new platform will mean more dramatic changes are expected under the skin. Auto Express understands that the new X3 SUV will use a new lightweight rear-wheel-drive platform to improve fuel economy, performance and handling. Between 50kg and 100kg is likely to be stripped out of the new X3, which could bring the weight of the entry-level model down to around 1,700kg.It’ll be slightly longer, boosting space in the cabin, but up to 100kg lighter than before. The platform also underpins the new 5 Series saloon, plus an all-new 3 Series expected in 2018. The new architecture will mean a slight increase in overall length and a small step up in practicality.Three models were listed among the leaked images: xDrive20d, xDrive30d and M40i. These are models available in Hong Kong, acording to the leaks, but we expect the same X3 versions to arrive in the UK as well. Fuel economy figures are also among the info online: 56.5mpg and 132g/km for the xDrive20d, 49.5mpg and 149g/km for the xDrive30d and 34.4mpg and 188g/km for the M40i. The performance specs for the M40i were also revealed - it gets a 3.0-litre straight-six with 355bhp and 500Nm of torque. Top speed is 155mph and 0-62mph takes 4.8 seconds...
