2009's X Factor winner Joe McElderry backs Cher

It seems 2009's X Factor winner, Joe McElderry, is backing Cher LLoyd to win this year's series:

"I really like Cher. She looks like a star, she acts like one and I think she's got something different from everyone else which is what The X Factor is."

Joe, like Cher, was in Cheryl Cole's group in 2009 when he beat Olly Murs in the final and the 19-year-old is obviously still fond of his mentor:

"I just think she's a great woman. She needs to keep doing what she's doing. She's fantastic."

Joe recently went back on the reality show to perform his new single, Ambitions, and said it was "quite surreal" when this year's contestants were asking him for advice:

"I only won the show a year ago!" Joe said.
