7 Views • Aug 16, 2010
Description
Madani has been charged by a court in Karnataka over his alleged role in the 2008 Bangalore blasts.
That event saw a series of nine bombs explode in which two people were killed and 20 injured.
Police say the blasts were caused by crude low-intensity bombs triggered by timers.
Madani held a press conference in Kerela state ahead of his surrender.
[Abdul Nasser Madani, People's Democratic Party Leader]:
"I would like to surrender myself as soon as possible. Now everything is in the hands of the court and I will obey what it decides for me."
Madani spent nine years behind bars in connection with the 1998 Coimbatore bomb blasts and was released from jail in 2007.
The series of blasts were ahead of an election rally, killing 58 and injuring over a hundred others.
