The pumpkin, which has been nicknamed ‘Maverick,’ was showcased at the Safeway World Championship Pumpkin Weigh-Off in Half Moon Bay, CA, on Oct 10. Its owner traveled 35 hours to transport Maverick to the contest and walked away with a grand prize of $23,040 — a payout of $9 per pound.
