On April 26, 2003, 27-year-old Aron Ralston sets out on a hiking trip in the gorges of Utah. He’s all alone and hasn’t told anyone where he is going. An experienced mountain-climber, he scales the region’s most beautiful peaks with ease. Yet when deep in the heart of a remote canyon, the unthinkable happens: a boulder breaks free above him, falling and trapping his arm in a wall of rock. Stuck with no way to get out, he’s in danger of dehydration and hyperthermia and plagued by hallucinations…He talks to his ex-girlfriend, his family, and wonders if the two girls he met in the canyon just before his accident will be the last people he ever sees. Five days later, grasping fully that no help is on the way, he will have to make the most difficult decision of his life…
