Description

The European Union has launched a €10 million low-volume desalination project in the Gaza Strip. The plant, which became operational as part of the EU's efforts to facilitate the governing mechanism in the Palestinian Authority, spans across 7.4 acres earmarked to the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA) in the southern Gaza Strip town of Khan Younis. The allocation order had reportedly come directly from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Once completed at an estimated date of 2015, it will provide safe drinking water and water for domestic use to about 75,000 people in Gaza Strip.
