Description
1 is 一 yī
2 is 二 èr but when counting we use 兩 (liang)
3 is 三 sān
4 is 四 sì
5 is 五 wǔ
6 is 六 liù
7 七 qī
8 is 八 bā
9 is 九 jiǔ
10 is 十 shí
11 is 十一 (shi yi): 10 + 1
12 is 十二 (shi er): 10 + 2
and so on up to 19.
Same with Japanese, once you get to twenty, you start by counting the 10s:
20 is 二十 (er shi): 2 10’s
21 is 二十一 (er shi yi ): 2 10's + 1
and so on, up to 99.
100 is 百 (yi bai). you count the 1s + 00 (bai)
ONLY 200 is different which is 兩百 *(liang bai) the rest are the same until 1000 which is 一千 (yi qian). you count the 1s + 000 (qian)
